From Chambery, take the A43 and A430 highway or from Grenoble the A41 and A430 highway to Albertville then the N90 as far as Bourg-Saint-Maurice, then the D1090 and D902 following signs to Val d'Isère.

Tip: switch off your sat nav when you get to Bourg-Saint-Maurice to avoid suggestions of roads that are closed in the winter. For your information, the Petit Saint Bernard pass or Iseran pass are both closed during the winter!

Mandatory winter equipment

Mandatory winter equipment

In order to increase user safety by reducing the specific risks associated with driving on snowy or icy roads, it is mandatory to equip your vehicle with winter tires or to have removable anti-skid devices (chains or snow socks) throughout the Savoie department from November 1, 2022 to March 31, 2023.

This regulation also aims to avoid blockage situations in mountainous regions, when vehicles not equipped find themselves across lanes, unable to get out of the way, immobilizing an entire traffic axis.
